BOP-approved shoes

What shoes are approved by the BOP for inmates & is there anything that resembles Eastbay (now out of business)? I want to help someone get some nicer shoes, but the facility can only place an order for shoes that are already approved by the BOP. Thanks!!

Normally they only allow shoes to be purchased via commissary. If they are letting you send in outside shoes, that's definitely a new thing and you would want to ask whoever told you that you can do that what is allowed.

The unit's secretary said that she can place a special order but only for shoes that are already approved by the BOP. we are not able to send outside shoes, but I was hoping to find a list of approved vendors

Ah... ya, probably would need to get a list of approved shoes from the secretary in that case. Things like that are usually facility specific, not BoP-wide.
